Further Details Emerge on Nokia 803, Final Symbian Handset?

We've been hearing a surprising amount of news lately about Nokia Belle, both as updates start to arrive for Symbian Anna handsets, and rumors circle what could be the final device to be released as part of the Symbian family. Supposedly, Nokia only has one more Belle smartphone on the way, and this will be the long-awaited model to act as heir to the N8 and its superior imaging capabilities. We had been thinking that this model might be the Nokia 803, which we showed you in the fall, but then got word that there also might be an 801 in the works. Today, a new rumor hopes to confirm the 803 as the final Symbian phone, as well as provide a little more insight into its hardware.

From what we'd been told about the plans for an N8 follow-up, the 803 would have a 3.5-inch WVGA ClearBlack display. Instead, today's rumors claims that the 803 will be equipped with a 4-inch screen. They also attempt to confirm a few other aspects of the phone's hardware that we already knew about, like NFC and HDMI support.

Obviously, the new N8's going to need a heavy-duty camera; while the source behind today's news didn't have any specific measurements to add there, we're told we can expect a sensor with a very high, if not the highest megapixel count around.

Supposedly, the Nokia 803 will launch sometime around May.
